Snapshot 12w34a has been released. This snapshot adds a lot of features that will be in 1.4

Complete changelog:

  • Villagers’ green particle effect now stay longer
  • Added Fullscreen and VSync settings in the video settings
  • Night Vision Potion can now be brewed by brewing an Awkward Potion with a golden carrot
    • Invisibility Potion can be brewed by adding a Fermented Spider Eye to a Potion of Night Vision
  • Added Wither Boss mob – Screenshots
    • Also added WitherSkulls, which might be to Wither Bosses what Ender Crystals are to the Ender Dragon
    • Each head fires projectiles at players and mobs and can break blocks
    • When hit by a projectile, you get a “Wither” potion effect, which acts like slow poison and turns your hearts black
  • Added debugging settings
    • F3+P toggles the auto-pause when the window loses focus
    • F3+H toggles detailed item descriptions
  • Beacon block is no longer available from the Creative Item Selection Screen
  • Trapdoors can now be placed on the top half of blocks
  • Zombies rarely drop carrots and potatoes when killed by players

    • Can be planted on hydrated soil and drops 2-4 carrots when fully grown
    • Grows instantly using bonemeal
    • Carrots give 2 hunger points, golden carrots give 3 hunger points

    • Can be planted on hydrated soil and drops 1-4 potatoes when fully grown

    • Act like fences: Connect to each other, to other blocks and to fence gates
    • Have a higher, bigger shape in corners and when blocks are on them
    • Craftable by putting 6 cobblestone or moss stone in a grid like when crafting fences
  • Added dye-able armor – Screenshot
    • Put dyes and armor in the crafting grid to apply different dyes
    • Right-click dyed armor on cauldrons to wash it
    • Only leather armor is dye-able

    • Right-click dogs with dyes to change their collar colors

    • Players will now see other players moving around if they have the same map, overlapping maps stay unchanged in that regard
    • Are now crafted empty and are started by right-clicking

    • Can now be stacked up to 64

Installation:

  1. Close Minecraft.
  2. Go to Minecraft.jar. You can find this in Windows at %appdata%/.minecraft/bin.
  3. Copy your Minecraft.jar file and back it up somewhere else.
  4. Move the newly downloaded Minecraft.jar into the /.minecraft/bin folder, replacing the old version.
  5. Open up Minecraft and have fun!

Remember, currents mods aren’t compatible with this Snapshot, so backup your Minecraft.jar file if you want to keep your mods.
